Hong Kong railways Hong Kong Railways The railway network is operated by MTR (Mass Transit Railway) - Metro lines - Light rail: 12 routes to suburbs - Airport Express - Disneyland Resort Line - trains to Lo Wu (Shenzhen) metro fares - A Tourist Day Pass cost HKD55 - Disneyland Resort Line Day Pass cost HKD50 - Airport Express Travel Pass: 3 consecutive days of unlimited travel on MTR + Airport Express. Price cost HKD220/300 Single tickets. The fare depends of the journey. A few price examples: - Tsim Sha Tsui to Central is HKD8.5 - Mongkok to Central is HKD10.50 - Hung Hom Station to Lo Wu (border Shenzhen) is HKD33 Single tickets can be purchased from ticket vending machines in all stations. Airport Express The Airport Express runs daily from 05.50 to 01.15 to downtown Hong Kong and AsiaWorld-Expo. Journey takes 24 minutes to the city and 28 minutes to the expo. - First train to city centre: 5.54 - Last train to city centre: 00.48 - First train to Asiaworld Expo: 6.15 - Last train to Asiaworld Expo: 1.13 - Last train from Asiaworld Expo to airport/city: 00.45 - Last train from Central to airport: 00.48 - Last train from Kowloon to airport: 00.52 train Hong Kong -> Guangzhou From Hung Hom Station (in Kowloon District) to Guangzhou East depart daily 12 through trains. Travel time is 1 hour and 50 minutes. Fare First Class is HKD190; Premium Class is avaible on three trains and cost HKD230. train Hong Kong - Lo Wu Daily, many trains depart from Hung Hom Station to Lo Wu (at least 5 trains every hour). At Lo Wu the border with mainland China will be crossed. Visitors need a valid visa for China. Ticket second class cost HKD33, first class is HKD66. Travel time is 43 minutes. First train to Lo Wu departs 5.30, the last train from Hong Kong to Lo Wu departs at 23.07. At night there are no trains to Lo Wu because the border is closed. train to Beijing/Shanghai From Hung Hom to Beijing and Shanghai depart trains every other day. Travel time to Beijing is allmost 23.5 hours and to Shanghai 18.5 hours. It is recommended to book tickets ahead for this journey. travel shops & Wifi MTR travel shops are located at Admiralty Station, Lo Wu Station and Hung Hom Station. They sell MTR tickets, MTR souvenirs, theme park admission tickets and tours. 32 Stations along the MTR network have high-speed wireless internet access. |
